Threshold was founded in 2004 and opened its doors in January of 2005 in Las Vegas, NV.  Structured as a 501(c)(3) arts organization and modeled after the notable Oberlin Dance Theater (ODC) in San Francisco, TDT was the first contemporary dance company in Las Vegas to have its own resident facility with class studio and performance space.

The school provided adult and youth classes in contemporary movement forms and creative movement expression for differently-abled children and adults.

The theater was a community access space for artist performances, theater productions, and private events.

The TDT Mission

Dance is a powerful educational and therapeutic tool.   The TDT programs taught the cultivation of dance as a cultural expression of our life experiences and to provide a generative medium for personal growth and development.  The creative movement program for differently-abled individuals sought to enlist the communicative power of movement to foster individual expression in an environment where differences were celebrated.

The TDT Performing Company

The resident professional company engaged the art of dance to touch the hearts and souls of its audience and cultivate the ongoing investigation of the human experience.  Through interdisciplinary, collaborative efforts, TDT explored innately human relationship issues and personal journeys through all stages of life.

Performances included the Las Vegas Dance in the Desert Festival 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, The Long Beach Golden West Invitational Concert, The Miss Teen Nevada Pageant,  and site-specific performance at "Arthur's Tarantella" at the Goldwell Open Air Museum Red Barn.  This performance was a collaborative performance with Las Vegas's Cockroach Theater.

In 2006, TDT was approached by the Autism Speaks Society to be featured in a short film that was to be shown at a national fundraising event in Las Vegas.  They had heard about my creative movement program I designed to help autistic individuals.  This is the excerpt from that film.
